Great Central Railway Winter Gala: The loco has to loop around to travel north with the return train to Loughborough. The above locomotive is actually Stanier 8F 2-8-0 number 48305 (was LMS 8305) built at Crewe Locomotive Works in 1943. It was repainted-renumbered as 48773 for a GCR gala event (to represent the last numbered in the class?). Great Central Railway Winter Gala: The real Class 8F heavy freight locomotive 48773 was built by the North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow, Scotland in 1940. 48773 was ex LMS 8233, ex WD 307 and served overseas in the War Department and became Persian Railways 41.109. Its WD number was 70307 in 1944 and 500 in 1952.
