Class 67 diesel locomotives

built by ALSTOM & GENERAL MOTORS EMD

Class 67 diesel-electric locomotives were built in 1999-2000 by Alstom at Valencia, Spain as sub-contractors for General Motors.

These Class 67 Diesel-Electric Bo-Bo locomotives have a maximum tractive effort of 31770 lbf/141 kN, and Class 67 locos have a max. speed of 125 mph. Class 67 diesel locomotives are powered by a two stroke engine of 2385 kW (3200 hp).

Class 67 are often stabled on the East Coast Mainline from London to Edinburgh at Kings Cross, Doncaster and Newcastle as relief locomotives in case of train breakdown, a task which has earned them the nickname 'Thunderbirds'! Class 67 diesel-electric locomotives are mainly used to haul passenger trains but may sometimes be used on lighter freight trains.

Alstom built red liveried DB Schenker (DBS) diesel locomotive Class 67 67013 Dyfrbont Pontcysylite in a snowy York NRM in March 2015. It was attached to a single carriage, presumably 67013 was due to work some special excursion train.

First in its Class 67 !, Class 67 l0comotive 67001 with an Arriva Trains Wales train in Platform 3 of Holyhead station with a train for Cardiff and Swansea

Type Class 67 67026 (67 026) arrives with a special excursion from Kings Cross, an EWS locomotive that normally hauls freight trains. 67026 has carried the name DIAMOND JUBILEE (on one side of the locomotive only?).

The 'Royal Train' came through Warrington Bank Quay Station on 05/09/2016 taking Princess Anne to Scotland.

It was top and tailed by two DBS Class 67 diesel locomotives 67005 Queen's Messenger (front) and 67006 Royal Sovereign (rear)
