Enjoy the walks from Sutton Bank National Park Visitor Centre, North York Moors  These web pages describe, mainly with picture views of walking scenes around Sutton Bank on the North Yorkshire Moors. The text is deliberately short, no full guide is intended, but I hope the pictures covey the beauty of walking and visiting this area of England and other beautiful and interesting areas nearby. They are based on five walks from the North York Moors National Park Visitor Centre at Sutton Bank where you can purchase a copy of a booklet describing these five walks in detail with maps, but an "OS Explorer Map OL 26 North York Moors - Western Area" is a great geographical and navigational help if necessary.  *  Enjoy the walking in the countryside this lovely and interesting area of Northern England where there are lots of places to visit, varied walking holiday landscapes and no shortage of accommodation with warm and friendly hospitality.

The Cafe-tearoom in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park Centre at Sutton Bank, England. Freshly baked food, generous pots of tea and lots of great walking on the ridge and above and below the White Horse of Kilburn and the gliders are towed into the air from Sutton Bank airfield. You can walk along the escarpment at the top of the cliffs by the aerodrome watching the taking off and landing of the light aircraft and gliders.

At the Sutton Bank National Park Visitor Centre there is an excellent bird watching facility with a colourful guide to the birds you can see on the bird feeders set up outside the viewing window.
Apart from the bird watching, the good food and drinks at the cafe, there are two exhibitions (May 2012). The first is a photographic exhibition called 'Diamonds in the Landscape' to celebrate  60 years of the National Parks.

The other exhibition is called 'Lime & Ice' with an audio-visual display explaining how the landscape around Sutton Bank has evolved over the past 200 million years.
