13. Rudland Rigg and Bransdale

13a. Boundary Stones and Standing Stones on Rudland Rigg

Cockan Cross/Cockam Cross, on the west side of Rudland Rigg overlooking Bransdale (OS grid 631991/2?).

 

Boundary stone marked on one side with KIRBY MOOR SID for Kirkbymoorside.

 

13b. The Cammon Stone

The prehistoric standing stone (OS grid 626000) known as the Cammon Stone rests by the side of the old bridleway over Rudland Rigg. The trackway has been used since Neolithic times and was an important north-south medieval road.

 

13c. The old mill in Bransdale

Bransdale Mill

The stonework and course of the mill race can still be seen.
