5. The Upper Esk Wildlife and Conversation Group
Wildlife surveys of flora and fauna, woodland management and tree planting by people from Ainthorpe, Castleton, Danby and Westerdale. Many people involved in various projects that overlap with the wildlife group that meets in Castleton Village Hall on the first Monday of each month.

Surveying for the Small Mammal Association
Looking for field voles, water voles, common shrew, mice etc. Looking for latrines in the metre quadrants! Use of bait trapping techniques and the Longworth trap for live trapping.
