Diesel multiple unit (DMU E50321/E51427, Class 101 built 1957) coming into Leicester North Station. This 2 car DMU was built by Metro-Cammell in 1957-1958. Class 50 Co-Co diesel-electric locomotive 50007 SIR EDWARD ELGAR with GWR styled number and name plate. 50 007 was built by English Electric at their Vulcan Foundry in 1968 (was D407, D 407). As 'boring' diesels go, its not bad looking!
Class 26/0 Bo-Bo Sulzer powered locomotive 26007 (D5300) built at British Railways Crewe Works in 1958.
Orange-brown ('golden ochre') liveried A1A-A1A Brush powered Class 31 D5830 (other possible numbers D 5830, 31297 31 297, 31463 31 463, 31563, 31 563) built at Brush electrical Engineering Company, Loughborough, Leicestershire in 1962).
Ex EWS diesel shunter 08694 (D8694).
Type Diesel Class 37 number 314 named 'DALZELL' after a Scottish steelworks - I like the Scottie dog emblem (37314 built 1964, initially numbered D6980, then 37190).
Class 45 1Co-1Co Diesel-electric locomotive D123 named 'Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry' (D 123, was later numbered 45125, built Crewe Locomotive Works 1961). (Apparently the name was first used by D163/46026 and/or D135/45149 ?)
Ex British Railways D5185 (D 5185) CASTELL DINAS BRAN. This a BR Silzer type 2 diesel-electric locomotive built at Darlington North Road Locomotive Works in 1963, later named as Bo-Bo Type 25 25035.
Co-Co Diesel locomotive Type 37 255 in a dilapidated state at Quorn and Woodhouse Station (other numbers D6955, D 6955, 37255). Built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry Works in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire in 1965.
Co-Co diesel-electric locomotive D1705 SPARROWHAWK (D 1705, Brush Type 4 Class 47117 or 47 117, built 1963) at Leicester North Station after hauling a train from Loughborough Central Station (pictured below at Loughborough).
Green liveried Sulzer powered Bo-Bo Class 27 D5401 (other possible numbers D 5401, 27112, 27 112, 27056, 27 056) built at Birmingham Carriage Works in 1962.
0-6-0 Diesel shunter type Class 10 D4067 (D 4067) named "MARGARET ETHEL - THOMAS ALFRED NAYLOR" built at Darlington Works in 1962 See also 20a.
