of St Lawrence and its Saxon Cross

The Parish Church of St

village of Eyam. It dates from Saxon times with rebuilding and additions
by the Normans in the 11th century and through the later medieval period.
The present building is mainly 13th and 14th century stonework

The 8th-9th? century Saxon Cross in
churchyard of Eyam Parish Church. The cross is carved with both
Christian and pagan symbols. The church is one of the most popular
tourist attractions in Eyam.

The remains of a Saxon
Cross and the sun-dial from 1775 above the smaller south door.

Sun-dial.

Tomb of doom! very
appropriate for a 'plague' village.

Eyam Church viewed from the
south-east corner of the quiet graveyard, but it is not always so
peaceful, St Lawrence Church is one of the most visited tourist
attractions in Eyam village.
