The National Portrait Gallery (NPG) is the art gallery in London that houses the national collection of portraits of historically important and famous British people e.g. politicians, artists, engineers, kings, queens. When it opened in 1856 it was the world's first dedicated portrait gallery. The gallery moved in 1896 to its current site at St Martin's Place, off Trafalgar Square, next to the National Gallery and has been expanded several times over the intervening years.

All the photographs were taken with a cheap, hand-held 79 camera, not good quality images, but, I hope they give a really good impression of the wonderful and varied exhibition of portrait paintings in England's premier portrait gallery.
