66. Grennan Castle
Grennan Castle (Caislean an Ghrianain) dates from around 1210.
Thomas Fitz Anthony was a member of the 2nd influx of eminent Anglo-Norman settlers who built Grennan Castle, an example of a hall-keep Norman castle shortly after he founded Thomastown ~1210.
You can just make out where a deep fosse surrounded the castle.

There is a fine road bridge which you cross on the road to Inistioge from the lay-by from which you can view Grennan Castle.
