The Artist Ian McCulley - Series 5. WINTERREISE paintings
Winterreise - The Winter's Journey is a song cycle by Schubert.
It was composed over two periods in Schubert's life.
Part (1) in February 1827 and Part (2) in October 1827 making a total of 24 songs.
The 'painting' is also made up of a total of 24 images in mixed media - acrylic, pastel and pencil.
Images 1 to 12 are separately framed and images 13 to 24 are presented as a single horizontal frame.
The painting is a record of the journey to Dunkeld, Scotland, for my son's wedding in the bitter winter of January 2010.
(but this journey had a happy ending!)
Images or frames 1 to 12 presented separately and vertically (all 90mm x 120mm)
Images or frames 13 to 24 presented as a single horizontal frame (1100mm x 120mm)
Use the horizontal scroll bar to view the complete frame of 12 'joined' images
This series of paintings are directly related to a car journey made from North Yorkshire to Dunkeld, Scotland, for my son's wedding in January 2010.
The paintings depict the visually fragmented nature of a journey – the way your eyes alight on a veiw, for it to be immediately swept away by another veiw.
There are now 4 paintings in the series; No.4 completed in the Spring of 2016.
No. 4. Part 1. 735 x 145 mm
No. 4. Part 2. 735 x 145 mm
